Classical Ballet (ages 7-10years)

SATURDAYS 9:00- 9:45 AM NEW TIME
FEE: $225.00 ($112.50 / semester))
Instructor: Maia Laing Minimum Enrollment – 5

In this class, students will be introduced to the basic ballet fundamentals, including balance, body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of feet and arms. They will work across the floor and beginning center work. This class will perform in the June recital- June 7, 2009 at 4 PM

Beginning Tap - (ages 7-10 years)

Minimum Enrollment – 5

This class with multiple ability levels will focus on tap fundamentals including basic tap steps- flap, shuffle, ball change-to more advanced steps- wings, cramp rolls and pull backs. Students will be paired with students of the same skill level & will progress according to thier own prior training and ability. Students will perform in the June Recital- June 7, 2009 at 4 PM

 

Classical Ballet- Intermediate (ages 10-12 years) Teacher Evaluation needed

Classes emphasize the development f the classical ballet skills with a focus on proper alignment and placement. Students will leatn ballet vocabulary through barre and center work while building strength and flexibility. Students will move through barre, center work and progressions while including basic turns, jumps and leaps. Students will be evaluated based on skill level and ballet knowledge. This class will perfomrin the June 7, 2009 at 4 PM recital.

Stage Dance For Older Intermediates – (ages 13+ years)

FEE: $360.00 / year ($180 / semester)

Minimum Enrollment – 6

An exciting dance class for the older beginner / intermediate dancer who would like to improve their movement abilities on the musical or dramatic stage. Students will learn basic ballet and jazz choreography as well the terminology to assist them in dance auditions. A fun class providing confidence in moving and fluidity in style for the stage.

***This class is required for 2nd year Musical Theatre III Students. Discounted rate $200/year.

Students will be evaluated based on skill level and if needed a more advanced level will be added.

DRESS CODE: Students will be required to wear black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes.

Musical Theatre Song and Stage -(ages 8-12 years)

SATURDAYS 11:00-12:00
FEE: 12-week Fall session $120 (September 10-December 3)
12-week Spring session $120 (March 11-May 20, 2009)
Instructors: Melissa Williams -Stage Director

Music Director / Choreographer as needed.

Come and learn the songs and staging of Broadway. A great way for young students to develop their singing and movement skills. Songs from Anni,Oliver, Mary Poppins, The Wiz and so much more. Basic singing, acting and dancing skills will be taught in this class. A fully staged presentation at the end of each session.

BOSTON TAP COMPANY- Saturday Tap Classes
SATURDAYS 12:00 - 2:30 PM
FEE: $360 / year (one hour class)
Instructors: Sean Fielder, Maia Laing and Company Members

The Boston Tap Company, a resident ensemble at Riverside Theatre Works, bring their innovative and highly skilled tap instruction tot eh classroom at Riverside. You may have seen them on the stage perform - now is your chance to learn from the very best tap dancers in Boston.  Students will lean tap history, terminology, amd development of tap skills.  Class times on Saturday will be determined after evaluating the students.

Tap Evaluation & Placement Day - September 6, 2008 / 2-4 PM

A tap skill evaluation is required for classroom placement.  There will be a bdginner's class as well as an advanced classes for dancers.
